These definitions will help
guide you through the South of Nowhere world.
Ass Eyes - (noun) -
1. Nickname for Glen
Carlin, older brother of Clay
and Spencer
Carlin. It was given to him by Ashley
in episode 2.05 "Rules of Engagement" when he was being particularly
difficult because he couldn't be high on his drugs. More than likely, she was
about to call him a-hole, but she suddenly remembered that she was on network
television on a show that has a PG-14 rating. In other words, that wouldn't
have
Spashley
- spash·ley [spàsh lee] (noun) 1. Name merge of the lead characters,
Spencer
and Ashley,
from the groundbreaking teen drama, South of Nowhere 2. Main lesbian coupling
3. First love, True Love, Forever love 4. Hope
Spaiden
- spai·den [spayd in] (noun) 1. Blasphemy 2. The disastrous coupling
of Spencer
and Aiden.
Also a synonym for the phrase "they're much better off as friends"
Ashden
- ash·den [ash den] (noun) 1. Every Spashley fan's worst nightmare come
true 2. Unatural coupling of Ashley
and Aiden.
Spangs
- uh·spangs [spangs] (noun) 1. The name merge for Carmen
(SanDiego??) and Spencer.
Chosen by default only because Sparmen sounds really bad and Cancer
well,
it's Cancer.
Bangs
- bangs [bangs] (noun) 1. Nickname for the mysterious Carmen
(last name unknown) who first made an appearance in the beginning of season
3, only to vanish a few episodes later. It was gonna be She-bangs but I hate
that song.
Man-bangs
- man·bangs [man bangs] (noun) 1. Name for that thing that's hanging
on Aiden's
forehead in season 3. Not that it looks bad, it's just
we don't have a
name for it. Hence, the word man-bangs. Hey, props to Aiden though. Only a real
man can rock the man-bangs.
Solid
- so·lid [sólld] (noun) 1. I have no idea. I think that's a generational
thing. But, if I were to go by context, doing someone a solid seems to be synonymous
with doing them a favor. Don't quote me on that though.
Cheerbitch
- cheer·bitch [cheer bich] (noun) 1. Ashley's
term of endearment for King High's cheerleading population, mainly Madison,
but she's not exclusive. Ooh, that was kind of a dig.
Jockstrap
- jock·strap [jok strap] (noun) 1. An elasticized belt worn by sportsmen
to support their *coughs* you-know-whats 2. Or, more commonly, a jockstrap is
any member of the grunty, sweaty, although freakishly pristine sports population
at King High
Breeder - bree·der [bréed
r] (noun) 1. Sometimes paired with cheer (i.e. cheerbreeder), I'm guessing it's
Ashley's
term for the straight people at King 2. To older generations, it's someone
who's old enough to have kids
Ellen
Twins - Ell·en Twins [el·in twinz] (noun) 1. Madison
called Spencer
and Ashley
this in the first season, hinting at the apparently very obvious budding relationship
between the two girls. I'm just attributing it to the fact that Madison's one
of those straight girls with fantastic gaydar.
Siiick
- siiick [siiiik] (adjective) 1. Aiden's
descriptive word for anything he thinks is gonna be cool or fun. I wonder what
he uses when he's actually siiick.
Fighting Crime -
figh·ting crime [fit·ing krim ] (verb) 1. Codeword for generation
S.E.X. about, well, what else, sex. Sadly, this one isn't an Ashley invention,
but Aiden's.
He'd apparently been catching up on some Douglas Coupland and fancied the
whole phrase for hookups between friends; fighting crime.
I
love these
brownies - I·love·these·brow·nies
[i luv theeez brówneez] () 1. This is what you say when you're kind of
way into your friend who may or may not have recently admitted to you that she
kinda likes girls and you being gay yourself and actually having eyes can't
help but start to dig her
more. Yeah, so, instead of getting all mushy
and completely putting yourself out there, you try to stay impartial but the
way she looks at you
sometimes
is completely disarming and before you know it, you're ready to tell all, and
almost do, but come to at the last minute possible and change gears muttering
that you love brownies instead. 2. Or, you know, cute.
Dirty Little Secret
- dir·ty lit·tle se·cret [ ] (noun) 1. Awesome song by
the All-American Rejects 2. Or, what Ashley
is not gonna be, for Spencer,
at all. Okay, maybe for a little while, but not if Spencer's gonna go on blind
dates her mom set up for her. She's gay Paula.
Generation
S.E.X - gen·er·a·tion s e x [jen-uh-rey-shuhn]
(noun) 1. What we all want to be a part of 2. What Ashley
thinks the current generation of teenagers define themselves as. Not entirely
inaccurate. Most of us just get it on out of the way now so we don't have something
else looming over our heads, like, I dunno a crappy Commander in Chief or global
warming.
La
La Land - la·la·land [lah] [lah] [land] 1. the city of Angels;
Los Angeles 2. The setting for South of Nowhere. 3. Ashley's
name for LA, probably because the city's naturally crazy nature, or maybe it's
because when most people talk around here you stick your fingers in your ears
and go "la la la" because just like people online, people in LA, "They
lie."
been
appropriate language. Ass-eyes works though, although, wouldn't Ashley have
ass-eyes too. I mean, if you follow hers in episode 1.05 "Molding Clay",
when Spencer walks away
